| Agriculture Agricultural activities are an integral part of the English rural landscape, and mark the changing seasons.
 kk Technical progress has transformed the face of farming from horse drawn machinery to the modern combine harvester in one generation. The emphasis in farming is changing from a purely food producing regime into one that blends food production with conservation and environmental responsibility. Whilst the Estate lets a proportion of its land and farms to agricultural tenants, most of the in-hand land is in an arable rotation, growing biscuit-making wheats, feed wheat and tic beans for animal feeding stuffs, together with oilseed rape used for cooking oils.
