Forestry
The Estate’s foresters actively manage large areas of ancient, deciduous and coniferous woodland, working closely with expert consultants. We have implemented a 25 year programme to manage and regenerate our woodlands. This involves felling or thinning areas of woodland (often previously planted by the Forestry Commission for commercial means) and creating the right conditions for natural regeneration. Woodland management is extremely long-term by its very nature, and we therefore put a lot of care and effort into the long-term health of our trees, which proves to have huge positive effects on nature and wildlife.
