Balancing Food Production with Conservation
At Woodhall Estate, we believe in a harmonious approach to farming and nature conservation. Many of our fields feature wildlife margins and dedicated natural regeneration areas, allowing us to produce high-quality food while enhancing local habitats and ecosystems. We continually invest in the long-term sustainability of our land, carefully managing soil health, crop rotations, and biodiversity to protect The Estate’s future.
By embracing cutting-edge technology and modern farming techniques, we improve yields, efficiency, and environmental outcomes, creating a virtuous cycle where high-quality food production and conservation go hand in hand.

A Thriving Farming Community
In addition to our in-hand farming operation, Woodhall Estate is home to three tenant farming families: the Borlase, Pearman, and Tucker families, who have farmed here for generations. Their work spans both arable and livestock farming, with the Borlase family’s award-winning cattle herd producing exceptional meat, available in shops across Hertfordshire.
This diverse, collaborative approach to farming ensures that Woodhall Estate remains a productive, sustainable, and thriving estate, where heritage, innovation and environmental responsibility come together.

A Legacy of Sustainable Agriculture
Woodhall Farming Company is an integral part of Woodhall Estate, reflecting a longstanding family tradition of farming that has been passed down through generations. Our land is primarily used to produce wheat, barley, oilseed rape, oats and beans, while a flock of ewes grazes in Woodhall Park, contributing to the estate’s diverse agricultural landscape.
