Building for the Future

Our approach to development

Housing development at Woodhall Estate is not taken lightly. We are committed to the long-term conservation of the natural and built landscapes to preserve the exceptional beauty and special character of the estate. However we recognise the need for housing in Hertfordshire given our proximity to London, and the pressure to consider appropriate sites at villages identified by East Herts District Council in their district plan. If there must be development on or around the estate, we would like to be trusted to deliver the development in the most sensitive and appropriate way – and to re-invest profits into both the estate’s ongoing conservation work as well as community life. We are in a unique position to consider all aspects of community requirements, for example recreation spaces, parking, clinic capacities and so forth. This long-term and holistic approach over previous and future centuries is something that only the estate is able to offer.

Infrastructure

We work hard to improve public infrastructure. We are working closely with Hertfordshire County Council to facilitate the proposed new A602 trunk road, which connects the A1(M) and A10. We also work with telecommunication companies to provide sites for telemasts, and utility companies to improve services infrastructure such as water, gas and fibre.

Our holistic approach to housing, community facilities and infrastructure is what sets us apart from commercial property developers.
